Doing chin up bar exercises are one of the best exercises you can do. It will target your back and shoulders like no other, especially as a bodyweight exercise. If you are a climber this exercise is one of the best you can do as it targets muscles that may come into play while you climb. Remember the chin up is done with your palms facing toward you on the bar.

If you are not able to do chin ups you can take shortcuts to train for them. Standing on a chair and just lowering yourself down is a good way to start, as you get stronger start pulling yourself up. You can also stand under the bar holding on to it, jump up and pull at the same time to get you off the ground.

Do a set of pull ups till you can’t do any more. Do this for 3 or four sets. If you can easily do your chin ups you may need to add resistance. One way is to hold a dumbbell with your knees or feet. You could use a weight belt made to attach weights to or use a weighted vest.

You can do a sort of isometric exercise by pulling yourself up to the bar then lowering down to stop at 3 or 4 points and pausing for a count of 5 to 10. Try pulling yourself up part way and holding for 10 seconds or more. If you can get stronger doing chin ups you will have a much more enjoyable day climbing knowing you have more endurance to hang on and not tire so easily.

Doing a pull up or chin up might be too risky especially if you just do it on any available horizontal bars that you see. Doing workouts for your arms, shoulders, and back that requires suspending or hanging on a bar like pull up need a fixed bar to ensure your safety while doing it.

The P90X Chin Up has strong bars to sustain your body weight while hanging for several minutes. The bar that you are going to use must be fixed on both sides and is not moving to maintain your balance. The P90X Chin Up Bar meets all these requirements to give you an intensified and safe P90X Chin Up routine. Installation of this bar is as easy as 1, 2, and 3. The installation process is as follows:

1. Assemble the chin up bar by following its full assembly instructions.

This bar comes with an easy to follow assembly instructions. Assembling this equipment may just take you 3-5 minutes to finish.

2. Look for the appropriate doorway.

Your doorway must be strong enough to support the bar and your total body weight. Standard doorways that are 24”-32” wide can support this bar. A doorway that is less likely to be frequented by your family members is suitable for this equipment. You can affix your chin up bar on a doorway that faces your TV set. This enables you to do your workout routine while watching your workout video.

3. Install the brackets of the bar on your chosen doorway.

The brackets that will hold the bar must be set properly on the wall or the top trim of the doorway. You must install it on the proper side of the doorway so that it won’t block the opening and closing of the door.

4. Make sure to provide proper spacing of the brackets.

Eight inches is the standard or required gap for the brackets. You can get this by measuring 4” from the doorway’s center towards the both sides.

5. Last step to get you going on with your chin up bar is to secure the bracket with screws provided in the package.

The brackets must be secured properly because your safety lies in it. After all assemblies are set, you’ll just hook both ends of the bar on the bracket and you can start hanging or doing your pull up or chin up routines with ease and added safety.

Most of the unfinished workouts are due to injuries. Safety must always be kept in mind when doing any activity or workout routine to avoid any possible injuries. And doing your chin up with added safety is made possible by using the right chin up bar.

One of the best body weight exercises you can do is the pull-up. It is excellent for your upper body strength to include your back shoulders and arms. Trouble is you may not have a convenient bar to use at home, your gym or near by park.

Good news is you can get one of those portable pull-up bars to use at home. There are a few styles available and they are easy to use and one can be carried with you if you travel. These are the styles that are used in a doorway and there is a freestanding type for outdoors.

For your doorway you can get one of those bars that fit between the door jam of a doorway. Included are two brackets that are screwed into the wood on both sides of the door jam. You place the bar into the brackets, twist the bar and it will tighten into the jam and it’s ready to use.

The second style is designed to make use of the frame at the top of the door. It kind of hooks on and your body weight will hold it in place. This bar will come with more than one hand placement to give you some variety. Some models will even let you make use of it at floor level for sit ups.

The negative with these is if you are tall you have to bend your knees to keep your feet off the floor. I have both types of doorway pull-up bars and use them a lot. The first one above I have used for about 25 years.

Another choice you have is a stand alone portable pull-up bar. They come in sections so it can be disassembled or set them up outside and leave them. It is an outdoor tool and should be made to withstand the weather.

Any of these portable bars are better than not having anything and are worth using. You should be taking advantage of the benefits of doing pull-ups.

For those of you that like to exercise at home for the ease and convenience should have some type of pull-up bar to use. Being the pull-up is one of the best exercises we can do, especially for the back, shoulders arms. If you do not have any bar now you should check into getting one of the many portable bars that are out there.

Your choices would be the doorway pull-up bars, the type that you can bolt to the wall or ceiling joists, portable outdoor system or just build you own. Obviously building your own pull-up bar system would work great if you are living in a permanent location but if you move around one of the other styles are best.

I currently have one of the doorway bars that I can use at home. I have had no problems with it; it hangs onto the door frame securely enough for me. I have had guys that weight up to 185 pounds use it and it felt secure. You do have to bend the knees to keep your feet off the floor but that is a small thing to worry about because the bar is convenient to use.

If you would rather have a pull-up bar outside check out one of those stand alone types of systems that you can put together and take apart for moving it around. These are good to use if you have a group function somewhere with no pull-up bar because you take it with you and set it up. My only issue with these is they might be a little unstable if someone is kipping hard to pull themselves up. A couple people steadying it can help.

The greatest thing about a doorway pull up bar is its portability. I wouldn’t buy into all the promises they make during the infomercials, but this is a nice doorway pull up bar for its intended purpose – pull ups. One of the great things about using a doorway pull up bar is its ability to provide a whole range of exercises that traditional pull up bars cannot. This range allows you to work out several different areas of the body with just one piece of equipment.

GoFit Chin Up Bars
The pull up bars and GoFit chin up bars focus on your arms and back. Some of them can be used to exercise your abs, as well as many other parts of your body as well. Not only do they strengthen and widen your back muscles, but they give your arms and shoulders an amazing workout at the same time! If you have been looking for a way to perform these exercises in your own home, you need a doorway pull up bar! Not only are you able to do chin ups and pull ups together it also enables you to a wide range of totally new exercises.

Mounted Pull Up Bar
You can work your arms, shoulders, and back in many different ways so that you look more even in your appearance and feel better. I have been going for about a month, and can easily go to where my arms are bent at 90 degrees. But it is VERY slow going past that 90 degrees. Works best simultaneously on your back, chest, shoulders, arms, shoulders, and abdominal compound muscles! This is the most effective chin up bar in the market today!

Pull Up Dip Bar
I am very happy with this product. Perform upper body pull-up exercises to strengthen back and arm muscles with this heavy-duty, steel-constructed bar. Sturdy door frame holders and doorway mounting brackets fix securely into door frame. It is excellent for your upper body strength to include your back shoulders and arms. Trouble is you may not have a convenient bar to use at home, your gym or near by park. Being the pull-up is one of the best exercises we can do, especially for the back, shoulders arms.

Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar
If you do not have any bar now you should check into getting one of the many portable bars that are out there. The doorway pull up bar will target the chest, arms and back in one pull up. Abs get in shape as well with the bar by pulling up legs to chest and if you twist from side to side the obliques get targeted too. Easy to use, just hook it up, it will support my weight. Saw it reviewed on elsewhere and I’m completely convinced with it. You’ll strengthen and develop your shoulders, back, and arms with 6 different grip positions.
