What is it about steel that makes it so strong? Is there a difference between steel and iron or are they one in the same? Are other metals just as strong or stronger? Is all steel created equally and how important is the fabrication process and/or the finish? Most importantly, does any of this really matter to us?

Encylopedia Britannica says that “iron is the most used and cheapest metal”. However iron is soft by nature, very reactive and can corrode. Iron by itself is not effective as a metal, so clearly is not the answer for the rugged pull up bars we are seeking for our home, garage or commercial gyms. While iron and steel are often used interchangeably, they are not one in the same; so much for “pumping iron”. Steel is an iron alloy and iron alloys are mixtures of iron with other elements. In the case of most common steel, iron is mixed with carbon which gives it its strength and durability.

Many of the wall- mounted pull up bars you see for home gyms, doorway types and other commercially available models may be made of steel, but that does not make them all equal. You want to look out for those that use lighter weight tube versus steel pipe. I have seen some pull up bars that are actually made of aluminum; ouch! Also, check out the fabrication. Are there a lot of bolts that hold the brackets, bars and other components together? Welded joints are ideal in a pull up bar, limiting the number of parts that show up in a bag for you to assemble and increase strength, durability and overall quality.

The finish too is also something to consider when shopping for a pull up bar. While the finish of the brackets tend to be purely aesthetic, the actual pull up bar surface will definitely effect performance. For the work surface, we believe in raw blackened steel. Painted, padded, textured surfaces or other finishes are all out there, but provide for unnatural conditions in our view. As far as the overall “look” of the equipment, we opt for the authentic and rugged approach here too; raw blackened steel.

So, while steel is certainly the material of choice, there are several factors that really do matter when searching for the perfect pull up bars. The functionality of the pull up bars are key no doubt, but let’s be honest, we want them to look cool too!

After all, this is a pull up bar, not a beauty contest. The slick, pretty bars out there have a place I suppose, we just haven’t figured out where.

If you are going to include pull ups into your home exercise routine you are going to need a pull up bar. There are a number of ways you can take advantage of pull up bars today and different ways you can adjust them for your routine. Despite being one of the older pieces of exercise equipment on the market, it continues to be an extremely reliable and vital piece of equipment.

As you begin searching the market for pull up bars you will find that they come in a wide array of different names and forms. A couple of the options you will run into include a doorway pull up bar and a chin up bar. What you purchase all depends on what you are looking to get out of your workout.

This piece of equipment offers an intense exercise for anybody looking to build several different muscles. Some of the muscle groups you can build muscle for include the biceps, shoulder muscles, pectorals, and many of the muscles on your back. The amount of repetitions and sets you do can also impact how much muscle you actually build.

The great thing about pull up bars is that there are no limitations as to what you can do. If you purchase a bench, you are limited to how many plates you have. Of course you can always go out and purchase more plates, but this becomes extremely expensive. With a pull up bar, you are only limited to how many repetitions and sets you can do. This leaves the door wide open for improvement over time.

It truly is the perfect investment for everyone’s home. It is extremely easy to store when you are not using it and you can easily take it with you anywhere you go. This way if you have a business meeting in a different location, you can bring it with you and still get your exercise in at night. And for how small of a piece of equipment it is, it provides a rare opportunity for you to work out several muscle groups all in one exercise.

If you are going to take advantage of what this piece of exercise equipment has to offer, it is vital you understand the right position for how to place the bar in a door way and how to properly pull yourself up.

First you will begin by assuming an upright position. Stand erect with both hands by your side while avoiding slouching or arching your back. You will then raise your hands gripping the bar while choosing whether you want to do an inward position with your hands or an outward position. Next, slowly elevate yourself to the limit of suspending yourself above the bar for a few seconds. You can then lower yourself and repeat the process for however many repetitions you want to do.

Despite the fact the fitness industry is constantly coming out with new and innovative pieces of workout equipment, pull up bars continues to be a terrific option for people of all kind.

One of the best body weight exercises you can do is the pull-up. It is excellent for your upper body strength to include your back shoulders and arms. Trouble is you may not have a convenient bar to use at home, your gym or near by park.

Good news is you can get one of those portable pull-up bars to use at home. There are a few styles available and they are easy to use and one can be carried with you if you travel. These are the styles that are used in a doorway and there is a freestanding type for outdoors.

For your doorway you can get one of those bars that fit between the door jam of a doorway. Included are two brackets that are screwed into the wood on both sides of the door jam. You place the bar into the brackets, twist the bar and it will tighten into the jam and it’s ready to use.

The second style is designed to make use of the frame at the top of the door. It kind of hooks on and your body weight will hold it in place. This bar will come with more than one hand placement to give you some variety. Some models will even let you make use of it at floor level for sit ups.

The negative with these is if you are tall you have to bend your knees to keep your feet off the floor. I have both types of doorway pull-up bars and use them a lot. The first one above I have used for about 25 years.

Another choice you have is a stand alone portable pull-up bar. They come in sections so it can be disassembled or set them up outside and leave them. It is an outdoor tool and should be made to withstand the weather.

Any of these portable bars are better than not having anything and are worth using. You should be taking advantage of the benefits of doing pull-ups.

The greatest thing about a doorway pull up bar is its portability. I wouldn’t buy into all the promises they make during the infomercials, but this is a nice doorway pull up bar for its intended purpose – pull ups. One of the great things about using a doorway pull up bar is its ability to provide a whole range of exercises that traditional pull up bars cannot. This range allows you to work out several different areas of the body with just one piece of equipment.

GoFit Chin Up Bars
The pull up bars and GoFit chin up bars focus on your arms and back. Some of them can be used to exercise your abs, as well as many other parts of your body as well. Not only do they strengthen and widen your back muscles, but they give your arms and shoulders an amazing workout at the same time! If you have been looking for a way to perform these exercises in your own home, you need a doorway pull up bar! Not only are you able to do chin ups and pull ups together it also enables you to a wide range of totally new exercises.

Mounted Pull Up Bar
You can work your arms, shoulders, and back in many different ways so that you look more even in your appearance and feel better. I have been going for about a month, and can easily go to where my arms are bent at 90 degrees. But it is VERY slow going past that 90 degrees. Works best simultaneously on your back, chest, shoulders, arms, shoulders, and abdominal compound muscles! This is the most effective chin up bar in the market today!

Pull Up Dip Bar
I am very happy with this product. Perform upper body pull-up exercises to strengthen back and arm muscles with this heavy-duty, steel-constructed bar. Sturdy door frame holders and doorway mounting brackets fix securely into door frame. It is excellent for your upper body strength to include your back shoulders and arms. Trouble is you may not have a convenient bar to use at home, your gym or near by park. Being the pull-up is one of the best exercises we can do, especially for the back, shoulders arms.

Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar
If you do not have any bar now you should check into getting one of the many portable bars that are out there. The doorway pull up bar will target the chest, arms and back in one pull up. Abs get in shape as well with the bar by pulling up legs to chest and if you twist from side to side the obliques get targeted too. Easy to use, just hook it up, it will support my weight. Saw it reviewed on elsewhere and I’m completely convinced with it. You’ll strengthen and develop your shoulders, back, and arms with 6 different grip positions.

Sporting Goods carry a wide range of pull-up bars that you can examine. Look primarily for a bar that has the fewest moving parts, but buy them online. Horizontal bars are spaced for optimum use in wide grip repetitions that also add bulk to forearms and incorporate greater challenges. There are some mounted pull up bars for example, that simply fit between two spaces such as a doorframe and are mounted using the hardware included with the equipment. Pull-ups can be tough on the hands. It has been designed to fit residential doorways 24″ to 32″ wide and support up to 300 pounds. While these products have been manufactured and tested to decrease the risk of injury, the potential for personal injury or property damage does exist.

Most mounted pull up bars are very sturdy and have a number of padded hand grips and offer a variety of hand holds (wide, narrow, reverse, neutral grip). They cost about $50, but they are worth it. The bar was designed for standard 4″ walls and overhead trim that does not exceed 4″ wide. It is not uncommon for older homes (50+ years), military barracks and some condo construction to have 5″ or 6″ walls.

A doorway chinup bar is a strong pull up pole you grab and consistently work out. A tricep workouts your back – a chinup work outs your triceps. Many different types of chin-up bars like the bars are available in the market that can be fitted in a doorframe. These types of bars are also called the permanent fixtures. Everything above the waist (and below the neck) can benefit greatly from the chin up bar. Pull ups and chin ups develop great strength in the chest, back, and biceps.

A mounted chinup bar is a strong bar you hold and work out consistently. These bars exercise your biceps and triceps – a chin up really does work out your arms. So why do you really need to get a chin up bar? There are different kinds of free standing chin up bars. You can choose the one that fits your door frame best and make it work for you. That is, start exercising.

Chin-ups and pull-ups are the best functional biceps and upper-back workouts for novices. Pull-ups not only strengthen the back, they balance bench presses and guard against shoulder problems. There are a few different choices as I’ve mentioned, as well as tension mounted pull up bars and free standing pull up stations. How you choose which one is best for you should be done through thorough online research. Great for doing chin ups when travelling or if your place is small. They use leverage to mount against any reasonably sturdy door frame or door. If you want to build your biceps, focus on chin ups. If you want to build shoulder and back muscles, focus on traditional pull ups. Many door chinup bars will allow one’s palms facing each other.
